Eggnog Latte – Starbucks
I review this drink every year. There’s a good reason for that. It’s not because it changes, it’s not because I want a new perspective on it, its just because it’s so damn good.
You wouldn’t think it is, though. Steamed eggnog with coffee in it – that’s a slightly weird idea, isn’t it? Yet somehow, against all odds, it’s wonderful.
It’s creamy (almost too creamy), it’s rich (almost too rich), and its probably far too sweet for a lot of people. Yet, it’s the only Christmas drink at Starbucks worth going for. Their festive hazelnut latte, much like Costa’s, is rather dull, and Starbucks rarely brings anything even vaguely interesting or inventive to the table. Yet, the eggnog latte is unique and quite delightful.
Do not buy this in anything other than a small. It’s too much otherwise. This drink works best as a treat on a cold day, in a limited volume. I pity the health of anybody getting this in a large…that’s just way too much. But when drunk in limited amounts, it’s pure, gently spiced luxury that gives you a gentle, caffeinated lift and a sugar rush to rival any soda.
9.5/10 – I daren’t give a ten but this is the perfect Christmas drink. It’s special, the kind of thing you wouldn’t want any other time of year. Definitely worth a look in. Sadly not available dairy free.
